Inside
(Recessed) Mount Shangri-La Shades
IMPORTANT NOTE: On
inside mounted Shangri-La shades the fabric will be 1 1/8" narrower (5/8” on the lift cord side and 1/2” on the opposite
side) than the headrail (see picture). This allows space for the shade to operate and is true on all Silhouette-type soft horizontal
shades. Therefore on all inside mounts you will have a possible light gap on the sides unless there is a window frame, trim, or drapery
covering this space.

Inside mount refers to shades that are mounted inside the opening
of a window that is recessed from a wall. This is the most common way to cover windows today and provides a nice, clean look. There is a minimum windowsill depth
for Shangri-La shades mounted inside which is 5/8". There is also minimum windowsill depth for the shade to fit flush with the wall which is 3 3/16".

IMPORTANT: You
must use a steel measuring tape for accuracy. If you are replacing existing shades your measurements must be from measuring the window
opening NOT the existing shades
WIDTH:
Measure the width of the window opening in 3 places (top, middle, and bottom). Take the smallest of the 3 measurements (rounded to the
nearest 1/8 inch) and write it down. This is the width you will order. Do not make any deductions!
HEIGHT:Measure the window opening height in 3 places (left, middle, right) and take the smallest
measurement (again rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch). The factory will make no deductions or additions to the height measurement.

Outside
(Wall) Mount Shangri-La Shades
IMPORTANT NOTE: On
outside mounted Shangri-La shades the fabric will be 3/4" narrower
(7/16” on the lift cord side and 5/16” on the opposite side)
than the headrail (see picture). In addition the headrail will measure
3/16" more than the ordered width. These additions & deductions
are true on all Silhouette-type soft horizontal shades. You may compensate
for the fabric deduction by adding to your width measurement for an outside
mount, keeping in mind that the headrail will measure 3/16" wider
than the ordered width.

Outside mount shades are mounted outside the window opening and attach
either to a wood trim/frame around the window or to a wall. Outside mounts
are ideal for windows with little or no window depth. There is a minimum
amount of flat space required for outside mount blinds (see chart).

OUTSIDE MOUNT
 |
WIDTH: Measure
the width of the window opening from left to right and add 4"to
6" for maximum light gap coverage and privacy. If the shade is
to be mounted to trim or framing around the window measure from the
trim's outside edge left to right then deduct 1/4". Keep in mind
that on outside mount Shangri-La shades the headrail will measure 3/16" wider than the ordered width and the fabric will measure 3/4" less than
the ordered width. Once you determine the desired width (rounded to
the nearest 1/8 inch) write it down. This is the width you will order.
HEIGHT: To determine the height
measure the window opening from top to bottom and add 3" to 6" inches
to this measurement to allow space for mounting brackets above the
opening and enough overlap at the bottom to avoid a light gap. You
must add at least enough space to mount the brackets above the window
which measure 1 1/4" tall. Once you determine the desired height
(rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch) write it down. This is the height
you will order. The factory will make no deductions or additions to
your height measurement. If there is trim or framing around the window
measure from the trim's outside edge top to bottom and this is the
height you will order, provided the trim provides the flat space required
for an outside mount (see chart). If not you can mount the blind to
the wall above the trim. In addition if the windowsill protrudes outside
the window opening at the bottom of the window measure just to the
top of the sill then deduct 3/8".
